Briean Boddy-Calhoun

CB · Minnesota
A JUCO transfer, Boddy-Calhoun was a back-up in 2012 and missed almost all of the 2013 season due to a season-ending knee injury. But he emerged in 2014 as one of the Big Ten's top playmakers in the secondary with a team-best five interceptions and 14 passes defended as a junior field corner, adding 51 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles. Despite missing a few games in 2015 due to a knee injury, Boddy-Calhoun led the Gophers in interceptions (four) and passes defended (10) for the second straight season.

he is terrific at tracking the ball and using timing to disrupt the catch point.

WEAKNESSES

strengths

Boddy-Calhoun, who was voted a co-captain for the 2015 season, was the outspoken and energetic voice of the Minnesota defense and was among the best in conference with his range and fluidity for the position. He does a nice job in his transition with quick feet and smooth hips to play sticky coverage on the outside.

reliability as a tackler needs improvement with his lack of size and muscle showing up often in run support. his man-cover skills will be challenged in one-on-one drills during pre-draft workouts.
