Atlanta Falcons request interview with an LSU assistant coach, report says
The Atlanta Falcons have requested an interview with LSU co-offensive coordinator Cortez Hankton, according to the NFL Network. Hankton has served as LSU's wideouts coach and passing game coordinator for the past two seasons. He was promoted to co-offensive coordinator duties along with quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan on Wednesday to replace Mike Denbrock, who departed for Notre Dame last month.
Hankton and Sloan served as LSU's co-offensive coordinators in the Tigers' 35-31 win over Wisconsin in the ReliaQuest Bowl. This will be the second time Hankton has interviewed for an NFL offensive coordinator position. Shortly after becoming LSU's wide receivers coach in 2022, the Los Angeles Rams requested to interview Hankton for a role that eventually went to Liam Coen.
The Falcons named Raheem Morris as their new head coach on Thursday and are in search of a new offensive coordinator. David Ragone had served as the offensive coordinator for the Falcons the past two seasons under coach Arthur Smith. Smith was fired earlier this month after three seasons in Atlanta.
