Is Boise State’s leading receiver interested in rejoining the team after coaching change?

Wide receiver Eric McAlister’s Boise State career may not be over after all. McAlister informed the team early last week that he planned to sit out the rest of the season and transfer when the portal opens Dec. 4, but things seem to have changed since Boise State football coach Andy Avalos was fired Sunday.

Interim head coach Spencer Danielson confirmed Monday that McAlister has shown interest in rejoining the team. “I’m working through that with the staff to know what’s the best possible move and the best thing for our team,” Danielson said. No decision has been made, Danielson said.

As of Monday afternoon, McAlister had not been added back to the Broncos’ online roster, but it would be hard for any team to turn him down if his interest is genuine. McAlister leads the Broncos with 47 catches for 873 yards and five touchdowns. The 6-foot-3, 184-pound native of Azle, Texas, is averaging 18.
