Mario Cristobal on Georgia Tech: "They throw the ball as good as anybody"

Georgia Tech is looking to bounce back from a shocking loss to Bowling Green on Saturday, but they will face a formidable opponent. The Yellow Jackets are traveling to Miami this weekend to face the No. 17 Hurricanes and how they will perform after this past weekend is anyone's guess.

One thing that is certain is that Georgia Tech has the respect of Miami head coach Mario Cristobal. Cristobal gave his weekly press conference today and talking about the matchup this weekend and how Georgia Tech is different on offense compared to last year's matchup, this is what he had to say: "They did a great job in the portal. They have certainly upped their level of talent and they are explosive.

They throw the ball around as good as anybody and they are very accurate in how they throw it and when they throw it. They stretch the field vertically and horizontally. They do a great job of shifts and motions, they present a lot of eyewash to try and get you in some violations and what not.

They do a great of getting downhill in the run game, counter, wide zone, tight zone, slips, pitching the ball to the perimeter. They are challenging, their change of pace presents some issues as well. They do a great job up front.

Coach Key is an offensive line coach by trait so obviously that is an area of emphasis for them. They do a good job of beating people up at the line of scrimmage. " Georgia Tech boasts the league's top passer with Haynes King, who has 1,480 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, averaging 8.

9 per attempt. The Yellow Jackets also have a star in the making at wide receiver with true freshman Eric Singleton Jr. , who is tied for second in the ACC with five touchdown receptions so far.

Cristobal also said that while Georgia Tech had a tough loss this last weekend, this is a team that he has a ton of respect for going into Saturday's matchup. "They have played some really good football, I know they had a tough game this past weekend, but that is not a reflection of what they are as a team and how we feel about them. They are certainly a team that deserves that respect because of who they have beaten head-to-head.

Last year they beat Duke, North Carolina, and Pittsburgh and this year against an excellent Wake Forest team and they did a great job against them. " Miami is the best team that Georgia Tech will have played up to this point. Cristobal seems to have his team heading in the right direction after last year's 5-7 season, Miami already has a big win over Texas A&M, and quarterback Tyler Van Dyke is playing like one of the best quarterbacks in the country.

Last season, Miami defeated Georgia Tech in Atlanta 35-14. It was a close game up until Zach Pyron was injured and then Miami's defense forced turnovers and took the game over. In the overall series, Miami leads 14-13 and the Hurricanes hold an 11-7 advantage over Georgia Tech since joining the ACC in 2004.

Miami has won five of the last seven matchups against Georgia Tech and six of the last seven meetings in Miami. How to Watch Georgia Tech at Miami Who: Georgia Tech at Miami When: 8:00 p. m.
