Rocket Sanders out for Arkansas game vs. BYU

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas running back Raheim “Rocket” Sanders will not play in the Razorbacks’ game against BYU on Saturday. Sanders will miss his second consecutive game with a swollen left knee. “We’ve got to get some swelling off of him,” Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said.

“Once we do that, we’ll see how fast and whether we can have him back for LSU. I just don’t know. ” Sanders had a big performance at BYU last season when he rushed for 175 yards and 2 touchdowns on 15 attempts during the Razorbacks’ 52-35 victory in Provo, Utah.

Sanders had touchdown runs of 15 and 64 yards against the Cougars. The SEC’s second-leading rusher last season who earned preseason All-America and All-SEC recognition, Sanders rushed for 42 yards and 2 touchdowns on 15 carries during the Razorbacks’ season opener against Western Carolina. Without Sanders, backs AJ Green, Rashod Dubinion and Dominique Johnson rotated during the Razorbacks’ 28-6 victory over Kent State last week.

Green led all players with 82 yards on the ground. In other injury news, Pittman said he expects cornerback Dwight McGlothern to play against BYU. McGlothern played one snap against Kent State last week with a turf toe injury that was suffered during practice leading up to the game.

“He got it on Thursday late in the practice,” Pittman said. “We thought he was going to be OK and then he went out there [during warmups] and said he couldn’t push off of it. ” Pittman said cornerback Kee’yon Stewart, a transfer from TCU, played well in McGlothern’s absence.
