USC WR Lewis out of jail, still suspended

USC wide receiver Joseph Lewis was released from jail after serving a 21-day sentence. Lewis, whose was freed on Friday, has been on suspension from the school since he was arrested in February in connection with two domestic violence incidents. In May, Lewis pleaded no contest in May to two misdemeanor counts of domestic battery with an injury. A school spokesman told the Los Angeles Times that Lewis remains off the team roster. As part of the plea agreement, Lewis still has to fulfill 36 months of probation, a one-year domestic violence treatment course and comply with a protective order to stay at least 100 yards from the victim, the newspaper reported. Lewis was rated the No. 4 receiver prospect in the country by 247Sports.com, making him the second-highest rated player in the Trojans' freshman class a year ago. Lewis caught four passes for 39 yards as a true freshman in 2017, but he was expected to have a bigger role in 2018.
