Status of Chargers DE Bosa uncertain for Sunday

Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa has not played in a game this season.
Los Angeles Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa returned to practice this week, but it remains unclear whether he will play in Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos. The Chargers do not have to decide yet, so they continue to monitor Bosa's progress. It may come down to a game-day decision. "It's really not decided yet," Bosa said Thursday, via Ryan Kartje of Southern California News Group. "We're continuing with the plan, and that's to practice this week. We'll assess it and see how it feels on Sunday." On Wednesday, Bosa participated in practice for the first time since injuring his foot the week of the season opener. He was only a limited participant in that practice, though. He said he has gone through "really intense" workouts the past month to try to regain his conditioning. "I've done 39 workouts in 29 days, so I'm in shape. I'm running as fast as ever," Bosa said. Bosa has 23 sacks in 28 career games, so he will help the Chargers' pass rush when he returns. Even without Bosa, the Chargers rank ninth in the NFL in sacks with 26. Defensive end Melvin Ingram leads the team in sacks this season with 5.5, and defensive end Isaac Rochell has 4.5.
