NFL notebook: Steelers' Brown calls lawsutis "false claims"

Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown called a pair of lawsuits filed against him "false claims." The suits stem from an alleged incident in April at a $10 million apartment in Florida that was rented by Brown. "It has now been made public that two lawsuits containing false claims have been filed against me," Brown said in a statement Thursday, per Pro Football Talk. "The facts will soon come out that prove my innocence. My focus will remain on football and I will not let the cases serve as a distraction." In one of the suits, the landlord of the apartment accused Brown of causing $15,000 in damage. The lawsuit contends Brown breached his lease agreement by "destroying, damaging defacing the premises, as well as furnishings and appliances." The other lawsuit claims Brown threw furniture and a number of other items from a 14th-floor balcony that nearly struck a 22-month-old child and his grandfather. Brown was accused of throwing two very large vases, an ottoman and other pieces of furniture that landed just a few feet from the infant and his grandfather. According to court documents, per KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, Brown was "extremely agitated, acting aggressively, and yelling at security personnel" when police arrived. --Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen could be back in the lineup for Sunday's game at the Washington Redskins. Olsen practiced fully Thursday for the first time since he suffered a fractured right foot in a season-opening 16-8 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Panthers offensive coordinator Norv Turner told ESPN that Olsen was on target to rejoin the lineup after practicing in soggy conditions Thursday. --Los Angeles Rams cornerback Marcus Peters suffered a calf injury in Week 3 and was a victim of big plays by the opposition in the next two games. Nonetheless, Peters said he is not injured when asked whether he is 100 percent healthy. "What makes you ask that?" Peters replied to reporters, via the Rams' official website. "No, I feel hella good. Coach wouldn't have let me go out there and play if I didn't feel good. What do you want me to say? I feel 100 percent? Yeah, I do. I feel 100 percent." Peters said injury was not a factor when Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett' scored on a 39-yard reception, with Peters trailing behind Lockett by at least 5 yards. --The San Francisco 49ers' injuries are piling up, especially on the offensive side. Eight offensive players were on the sideline during Thursday's practice due to injuries. The group includes three starting offensive linemen (left tackle Joe Staley, center Weston Richburg and right guard Mike Person), and three wide receivers (Pierre Garcon, Trent Taylor and Dante Pettis). Tight end George Kittle and running back Matt Breida were also spectators. The injury list does not include quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who is on injured reserve with a torn ACL Breida has an ankle injury, but has not been ruled out for Monday's game against the Green Bay Packers. Nonetheless, head coach Kyle Shanahan is considering bringing up Jeff Wilson or Matthew Dayes from the practice squad if Breida cannot play Monday.
