NFL notebook: Agent says Brady will play in 2018

Tom Brady's agent is confident that his client will return for the 2018 season. Agent Don Yee told ESPN that he expects the three-time NFL MVP back on the field, even though Brady has yet to publicly make that commitment. With Brady mum on the topic, questions have been raised if he is moving closer toward retirement. Yee insists, however, that it's full speed ahead for Brady. "Tom's intentions have not changed," Yee said Monday. "He's consistently said he'll play beyond this contract and into his mid 40s, or until he feels he isn't playing at a championship level. I understand the constant speculation, but this is one point he's been firm about." Yee also said that the 40-year-old Brady is training every day. --The New Orleans Saints opted against matching the Baltimore Ravens' two-year offer sheet to wide receiver Willie Snead, multiple media outlets reported. Snead, who was a restricted free agent, agreed to a two-year, $7 million offer sheet -- with $3.4 million available in incentives -- with the Ravens last week. The Saints had five days to match the tender before ultimately declining to do so. --The Oakland Raiders signed cornerback Daryl Worley, the team announced. The Raiders are Worley's third team in less than two months. The Philadelphia Eagles acquired Worley in a trade in early March that sent wide receiver Torrey Smith the Carolina Panthers. However, the Eagles released Worley on April 15, just hours after he was arrested and tased by police near the team facility. Worley was arrested for driving under the influence as well as on weapons and disorderly conduct charges after he was found passed out inside a vehicle at an intersection in Philadelphia. Worley, 23, started 14 games for the Panthers last year. --The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced that a live parrot will deliver the team's fourth-round pick on Saturday to an announcer on the pirate ship in Raymond James Stadium. The parrot, who is named Zsa Zsa, hails from the Florida Exotic Bird Sanctuary and will be accompanied by caretaker Stephanie Dripps. Other NFL teams will announce their Day 3 draft picks in unique ways. The Miami Dolphins announced last week that players from the Marjory Stoneman Douglas football team in Parkland (Fla.) will make some of their picks. The Minnesota Vikings will have members of the gold medal-winning United States men's Olympic curling team announce their picks at the St. Paul Curling Club. The San Francisco 49ers' selections will come from Lucasfilm, where Ron Howard, Star Wars characters including Chewbacca, Stormtroopers and RD-D2 will make the announcements. --The Arizona Cardinals signed defensive end Benson Mayowa to a one-year contract, the team announced. Financial terms were not disclosed for Mayowa, who recorded 21 tackles and one sack in 14 games last season with the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys released Mayowa on March 7. --New York Giants safety Landon Collins underwent a second surgery on the forearm he fractured last season. Collins announced the news by posting a picture of himself in a hospital gown to his Instagram feed on Monday. The 24-year-old initially had surgery after sustaining the injury against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16 of last season, but follow-up visits to doctors showed that forearm had not healed correctly. A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Collins will be sidelined six to eight weeks. He is expected to be ready for training camp. --Reuben Foster's status with the San Francisco 49ers remains uncertain, but general manager John Lynch said that Foster would be released if the allegations in his domestic violence case are true. Foster was arrested in February and is facing three felonies stemming from an alleged attack on his girlfriend: domestic violence with an allegation that he inflicted great bodily harm; forcefully attempting to prevent a victim from reporting a crime; and possession of an assault weapon. "The gravity of these charges has not been lost on us," Lynch said, via Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area. "We take it extremely seriously. We do feel like patience is the right approach right now. We're gonna learn things through this legal process. I do want to be abundantly clear that if these charges are proven true, if Reuben did indeed hit this young lady, he will not be part of this organization going forward." --The New England Patriots hosted Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson on a Top-30 pre-draft visit, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. The visit took place two weeks ago and reportedly left the Patriots' brass "intrigued and impressed" with Jackson, per Rapoport. The Patriots own the Nos. 23 and 31 picks in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. --Former Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians said the Cardinals should select Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson if available with the 15th overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. "That's one guy I really am intrigued with because he can spin it and he's been in a pro-style offense and he's been hard coached by Bobby (Petrino)," Arians said, via AZCentral.com. "He brings that unique skill-set, and it makes me look back at Vince Young." --Two weeks after proclaiming himself as "the best QB in the (upcoming) draft," UCLA quarterback Josh Rosen told NFL.com that there's a price for his unabashed honesty. "Everyone hates me," the confident 21-year-old Rosen told Michael Silver of NFL.com. "I don't know, everyone kind of likes to be liked. I don't really care as much about the media stuff, but what hurts me on the inside is when people will meet me, and I'll talk to them, and they'll be like, 'God. You aren't a (jerk).' Or, 'From what I understood, you're kind of an (expletive), but ...' I'm like, 'I don't know what to say to that.'" --The Oakland Raiders exercised the fifth-year option on wide receiver Amari Cooper, extending his contract through the 2019 season, the team announced. The announcement comes as no surprise, even though Cooper's production declined in 2017. If Cooper, 23, were to play under a fifth-year option in 2019, he would make approximately $13.9 million. After catching 83 passes for 1,153 yards and five touchdowns in 2016, Cooper had 48 receptions for 680 yards and seven scores last season. --Los Angeles Chargers general manager Tom Telesco announced that the team will exercise the fifth-year option on the contract of running back Melvin Gordon. The extends Gordon's contract with the Chargers through the 2019 season. A first-round pick in the 2015 draft, Gordon rushed for 1,105 yards and eight touchdowns while averaging 3.9 yards per carry in 2017. He also had 58 receptions for 486 yards and four scores last season. --The Pittsburgh Steelers have picked up the fifth-year option on outside linebacker Bud Dupree, the team announced. That option will pay him more than $9.232 million for the 2019 season. --Quarterback Sam Darnold is trying to ignore all the mock drafts. "I haven't looked at mock drafts," Darnold said on Pro Football Talk Live on Monday. "If I looked at those a lot I think I would drive myself insane. With the draft coming up I'm just trying to spend time with my family and close friends. There's so many mock drafts out there I haven't been able to keep up with them." --Several NFL teams have expressed concern over the left knee of Florida State standout defensive end Josh Sweat, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported. Those teams are wary of Sweat's health after he underwent surgery on his ACL, MCL and PCL in college, per Rapoport. Rapoport reported that "some NFL clubs have moved Sweat down their draft boards or in the case for some teams completely off the board." He did note that some teams were "indeed comfortable with Sweat's knee, short and long term." --Center Billy Price said on SiriusXM NFL Radio that he has made a lot of progress in his recovery from a torn pectoral muscle and has regained full range of motion. The former Ohio State star said his recovery is to the point that he is bench-pressing 10-pound dumbbells for the first time since suffering the injury. During the Combine Price suffered a partially torn pectoral while doing the bench press. Surgery was required to repair the injury. --The Buffalo Bills are unlikely to use their stockpile of draft picks to make a deal to acquire the New York Giants' No. 2 overall pick, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Monday. The suspicions that the Bills might try to swing that deal arose because the Bills need a quarterback and because Giants general manager Dave Gettleman and Bills general manager Brandon Beane are friends, having worked together with the Carolina Panthers. Buffalo currently owns the No. 12 pick in the first round, but it has plenty of draft picks that it could use to make a deal to move up. The Bills have two first-round choices, two second-round picks and two third-round choices. According to Rapoport, however, the Bills would not try to get the Giants' No. 2 pick, and would consider trading up only if a quarterback they want is still available with the No. 5 or No. 6 selection.
