Florida International hires former QB Dorsey as assistant AD

Former quarterback Ken Dorsey was named as an assistant athletic director at Florida International on Monday. Dorsey will be reunited with current football coach Butch Davis, who recruited him to the University of Miami and coached for him two seasons. Dorsey will not have any on-field responsibilities and will assist with Davis with fundraising once he takes the job next month. "I am super excited that Ken Dorsey is going to be part of our athletic department," Davis said in a statement. "He brings class, integrity and great knowledge of what it's like being around championship programs. He's well respected throughout the NFL. He'll be a great addition to our athletic department." Dorsey spent the last five years as the quarterback coach with the Carolina Panthers. He also was a pro scout with Carolina from 2011 to 2012. Dorsey was a two-time Heisman finalist in 2001 and 2002 at Miami and is the school's career leader in passing yards (9,565) and touchdown passes (86). In six seasons with the San Francisco 49ers and Cleveland Browns, he completed 214 of 408 passes for 2,082 yards and eight touchdowns before concluding his career with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League.
