Louisiana football lands 3-star linebacker from Mississippi, instate WR prospect Monday

Lafayette Daily Advertiser
Louisiana football has landed its first two commitments since preseason practice opened up late last week.
Parklane Academy (Mississippi) three-star senior linebacker Zedric Washington announced his verbal pledge to the Ragin' Cajuns via his X, social media platform formerly known as Twitter, Monday night. He was the second of the day following Zachary wide receiver Luke Wisham, an unrated prospect per 247sports.
Washington (6-3, 225) chose UL over Arkansas State, UAB, Southern Miss, Middle Tennessee and Jacksonville State.
In the 2024 recruiting class, the defensive side of the ball has been a big focal point for Louisiana football coach Michael Desormeaux and his staff. Washington, which projects as either an outside linebacker/pass rusher or possibly a down defensive end later in his career, is the third defensive player to commit behind cornerback pair Avery Demery and Shemar Welch.
Per 247sports composite, the Cajuns have the 13th ranked 2024 recruiting class in the Sun Belt Conference, although the outlet's ranking aren't completely up to date as they don't reflect the latest two commitments for the team.
Washington was a standout for Parklane during his junior campaign, leading the team with 92 tackles to go along with an interception return for touchdown, a forced fumble and four pass deflections.
