Chargers activate DT Liuget after suspension

The Los Angeles Chargers activated Corey Liuget and waived fellow defensive tackle T.Y. McGill, the team announced. Liuget was suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances. He is expected to play Sunday when the Chargers host the Oakland Raiders. The 28-year-old Liuget has started 100 of the 102 NFL games he has played during his NFL career since being selected by the Chargers with the 18th overall pick of the 2011 NFL Draft. Liuget started all 12 games he played in 2017, when he had 21 tackles, 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and two passes knocked down. "I definitely feel very confident in myself in getting out there and creating some push to the quarterback," Liuget said, per ESPN. Liuget is still is angry about the suspension, however. He's suing former trainer Ian Danney for $15 million in damages due to lost wages, pain and suffering he believes were caused by his positive test for performance-enhancing drugs. "I still haven't put it behind me," Liuget said. "It's definitely an emotional deal. But at this point I just have to focus on game No. 5 right now and try to help us get this third win, because that's the most important thing right now." McGill was inactive for all four games this season.
