Wolverines recruiting: Former Purdue CB commit flips to Michigan

Michigan’s football program has its first cornerback in its 2024 recruiting class.
Nappanee (Ind.) Northwood three-star prospect Jo’Ziah Edmond announced his verbal pledge to Michigan on Tuesday night after decommitting from Purdue earlier this morning. The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder announced his decision in a live video on social media.
Edmond is ranked as the No. 723 overall prospect and No. 65 cornerback in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite system. He’s ranked No. 8 in Indiana and has 12 reported offers.
After the Wolverines missed on multiple cornerback targets this cycle, including Springfield (Ohio) top-60 prospect Aaron Scott on Sunday, they began pivoting to other options. Although Edmond never reported a Michigan offer leading up to his decision, he attended a camp in Ann Arbor in June.
In 2022, he recorded 28 tackles and five interceptions. He becomes the Wolverines 27th commit in the 2024 class, which ranks fourth nationally.
The defensive back also is the second recruit to pledge to Michigan on Tuesday. Howell’s Bobby Kanka, a four-star defensive lineman in the 2025 class, announced his decision Tuesday afternoon.
