Not interested? Jets QB Aaron Rodgers lacked this component last year
Aaron Rodgers’ regular season debut with the Jets is coming quickly.
Eyes will be on the four-time MVP with his new team in New York after spending the last 18 seasons with the Green Bay Packers. What will this change spark in the quarterback?
Steven Ruiz of The Ringer put together his quarterback rankings ahead of Week 1 and he puts Rodgers at No. 7 and lists his weakness as “creativity.” He writes:
Maybe Rodgers was over playing in Green Bay last season, but he sure didn’t seem interested in holding on to the ball for more than three seconds. That’s not the Rodgers we’re used to seeing, and maybe a fresh start in New York will rejuvenate his playmaking skills.
The Jets could be providing a change of scenery that Rodgers may need. Former Patriots and Bucs quarterback Tom Brady said Monday night on his podcast, “Let’s Go!” on SiriusXM:
“There’s a lot of, I would say, mental scar tissue from losses or relationships or certain experiences,” Brady said. “…Now you go to a new place and you have none of that. So now you can just hopefully bring your best knowing that you probably didn’t do everything right where you were, but. You try you best. And now you got a new place with a different type of emotional energy. And I’m excited for him. He’ll be invigorated. It looks like he’s having a good time up to this [point]. I know he has been engaged in the offseason, which is always great and really trying to connect with his teammates.”
Rodgers will make his regular-season debut as a Jet Sept. 11 when the Buffalo Bills visit MetLife Stadium.
