2024 5-star WR commit Jeremiah Smith faces Ohio State fans: 'I can't even sell cleats'

Throughout Ohio State football's most recent commitments from players like Justin Scott, Damarion Witten and Bryce West, Jeremiah Smith has actively promoted the Buckeyes on his Twitter page, even posting a photo with former Ohio State wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. But after putting some game-worn cleats with the Ohio State logo for sale on his Instagram, one Buckeye fan saw what they felt was writing on the wall. "uh oh," the person tweeted with the screenshot of the cleats. Smith calmed down any rumblings of him flipping his commitment in May, saying he was "just having fun." on his social media. And when he quote tweeted the picture of those cleats on sale, he downplayed any other meaning to the post. I can’t even sell cleats 🤣🤦🏾‍♂️ https://t.co/KdzYNkRZSA — Jeremiah Smith ✞ (@Jermiah_Smith1) July 13, 2023 "I can't even sell cleats," Smith said with a laughing emoji. But that hasn't stopped recruits from trying to poach Smith from Ohio State's 2024 recruiting class. On a recent Instagram live, former Ohio State commit and five-star Georgia quarterback commit Dylan Raiola said that Smith was "in the works too" in terms of a flip, along with securing a commitment from five-star safety KJ Bolden. Smith quote-tweeted the post with three laughing emojis and a thumbs down. Smith is the highest-ranked wide receiver commit in Ohio State history and the fourth highest-ranked commit in program history per 247Sports' composite rankings behind quarterback Quinn Ewers, quarterback Terrelle Pryor and cornerback-turned-wide receiver Ted Ginn Jr. Smith is the No. 2 prospect in the 2024 class behind Raiola. As a junior at Chaminade Madonna Preparatory High School in Florida, Smith, a 6-foot-3, 198-pound receiver, recorded 1,073 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns on 58 catches. Smith is one of four five-star players currently committed in Ohio State's 2024 class along with Scott, wide receiver Mylan Graham and quarterback Air Noland.
