BYU OL Kingsley Suamataia named CFN Preseason All-American
BYU redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Kingsley Suamataia has been named College Football News Preseason All-America Second Team.
Suamataia, a 6-6, 315-pound lineman from Orem, Utah, was previously named to the Big 12 Conference Preseason All-Big 12 Team by media representatives who cover the league, the Big 12 Phil Steele Preseason All-Big 12 Fourth Team and the Athlon Sports 2023 All-Big 12 Third Team.
As a redshirt freshman in 2022, Suamataia started 12 games for the Cougars and was named Freshman All-American Second Team by The Athletic. He was also named College Football Network All-Independent First Team, Phil Steele All-Independent Second Team and Midseason Freshman All-American Second Team by College Football News.
BYU kicks off its inaugural season as a member of the Big 12 Conference against Sam Houston State on Sept. 2 at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on FS1 with the kickoff scheduled for 8:15 p.m. MT.
Utah Jazz head coach Will Hardy to host clinic for youth coaches
The Utah Jazz are excited to announce Head Coach Will Hardy’s first-ever Youth Basketball Coaches Clinic, featuring Coach Hardy and his staff, on Saturday, Sept. 9 in Salt Lake City. Registration is open to all youth coaches across the state.
As part of the Jazz’s commitment to the youth basketball community, this clinic is dedicated to helping coaches hone their skills and prepare for the upcoming season.
“Aligned with our organization’s commitment to being a steward of the community, Will Hardy is passionate about finding ways to impact Utah’s basketball culture and is particularly focused on youth development,” says Nate Martinez, vice president of Jazz Youth. “Youth coaches have a lasting impact on young athletes both on and off the court, and by hosting a clinic like this, the Jazz seek to provide participants with the skillset to boost their coaching confidence, build effective communication skills, and unlock the next generation of great talent.”
The clinic will be held at Zions Bank Basketball Campus (1420 500 W, Salt Lake City, UT 84115) on September 9 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is $35 per coach and includes the clinic, lunch, and Utah Jazz gear.
The clinic is open to all youth coaches at any level who are at least 18 years old. Space is limited, so interested participants are encouraged to register as soon as possible
Registration will close on Sept. 1 or when capacity is reached.
