Adam Stenavich

Stenavich is a three-year starter at the demanding left tackle position, but is being projected as a guard at the next level to take advantage of his natural knee bend, leverage and balance. He provided excellent protection of the quarterback's blind side, having started 39 games during his Wolverines career. Stenavich attended Marshfield High School, earning All-State first-team honors at both offensive and defensive tackle as a senior. He was named Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year, recording recorded 42 tackles, eleven sacks, five stops for losses, caused one fumble and recovered another in his final year. Stenavich added All-State honorable mention as a junior. Super Prep rated Stenavich the 16th-best offensive lineman in the nation and 10th-best player overall in the Midwest. He added three letters in baseball, earning All-State and All-Conference first-team honors as a first baseman in his senior year. He also lettered twice in basketball and holds the school's all-time single-season free throw percentage record (88.0). Stenavich attended Michigan's summer camp in 2000 and enrolled at the school the following year, sitting out the 2001 campaign as a redshirt. He earned Freshman All-American second-team honors while starting three of seven games, one at right guard and two at left offensive tackle in 2002. He took over left tackle duties full-time in 2003, starting every game for an offense that ranked fifteenth in the nation with an average of 446.69 yards per game. Stenavich was selected All-Big Ten Conference first-team as a junior, starting the team's first eleven games before having a string of 25 consecutive starts snapped vs. Texas in the Rose Bowl. He added All-Big Ten first-team honors from the media in 2005 and was the winner of the Hugh R. Rader Award, given to the team's top offensive lineman. He finished his career with 38 starts at left tackle and one more at right guard.

gets too wide with his arms, taking wild swipes that let defenders slip under his blocks... needs to do a better job of resetting and recoiling his hands, as he also keeps them too low to protect his body from defenders looking to pull and jerk him off-balance...does not have the lower body strength to move out two-gap defenders...needs to show more emotion and aggression in his play, as it seems he just goes through the motions at times.

Stenavich has adequate size, marginal speed, decent strength and athletic ability for the tackle position, and might be a better fit for guard at the pro level. He lacks good explosion and drive off the ball, but has decent balance. He struggles to stay on his feet after contact in the second level and while he has good lateral movement, he lacks the ability to redirect and needs to generate a stronger hand punch.

Has good chest thickness, with broad shoulders, big bubble, wide hips, thick thighs and a frame that can carry at least another twenty pounds...Shows good body control and balance getting into the second level and quick feet setting up in pass protection...Stay-at-home type with the functional strength to anchor...Has good knee bend in his pass set and enough agility to slide and mirror in the short area...Sinks his hips to set in pass protection, extending his arms well and using his hand placement to gain position...Not used much on the pull, but has the lateral agility and feet to slide down the line...Good fist fighter with enough power behind his punch to jolt...Knows his assignments and is alert to stunts and blitzes.

Lacks the size and bulk you look for in a left tackle...Has marginal acceleration past the line of scrimmage and does not come off the snap with enough explosion to create movement...Struggles to seal off the edge in pass protection and has slow leg drive in attempts to get out in front on running plays...Does a poor job of locating targets in space and fails to anticipate the linebacker's movement...Gets good hand extension, but

stenavich is a good scope blocker and can reach block, but sometimes struggles to sustain on the reach when he gets his hands outside his frame and takes wild arm swipes. he has problems trying to sustain on linebackers and is rarely used to pull, even in the short range. he is a better pass protector than drive blocker as he has a high pass set with decent slide ability, but lacks a good anchor and gets pushed back when taking on the more physical two-gap defensive tackles.

He has too many problems containing the speed rush to be left alone on an island at tackle. Stenavich has shown improvement picking up stunts, but is still a work in progress. He's too much of a plodder to get out and lead the way on sweeps and pulls and rarely generates an explosive burst to gain advantage.

2005: Left the Penn State game early in the fourth quarter with an ankle sprain, but returned to produce the team's game-winning touchdown block. 2006: Could not perform in the agility tests at the Combine due to a left hamstring pull.
