Ripkowski steadily improved during his time as Norman, arriving as a reserve in 2011 and going on to play in 12 games with one start the following season. He started seven of 13 games as a junior, and caught a touchdown pass against Iowa State. As a senior, Ripkowski was a second team All-Big 12 selection by the league's coaches after starting nine of 13 games at fullback. He scored on a pair of one-yard touchdown runs.
