Taylor Kelly
strengths
Underrated athlete with mobility to extend plays and pick up tough yards. Improvising well on the run and set the Arizona State record for career rushing yards (1,404) by a quarterback. Quick set-up with a gunslinger mentality, throwing a very catchable ball. Accurate placement on back shoulder throws. Very confident and distributes the ball well for his weapons to make plays. Poised and tough, both physically and mentally, with leadership traits for the next level. Good starting experience as a three-year starter (37 career starts) and leaves school as the Sun Devils' career record-holder in offensive yardage (10,223) and third in career passing touchdowns (79).
weaknesses
Undersized and lacks ideal height with a slim build, especially in his lower half. Streaky decision-maker and lacks the arm strength to get away with mistakes. Highly inconsistent downfield touch and trajectory, lacking natural feel in this area. Faulty mechanics, delivery and follow through - cocks and throws and needs to sharpen his release. Needs to marry his feet with his eyes and his messy base leads to below average ball placement. His completion percentage dipped each of his three years as a starter. Struggles to hang in the pocket and recognize pre- and post-snap pressures with a poor internal clock. Lack of ideal size leads to durability concerns -- missed three games as a senior due to a right foot injury (Sept. 2014).
