Week 9: Payton sacked QB Mitch Griffis two times in the Seminoles' 41-16 victory over host Wake Forest. Payton was credited with one other QB pressure and four tackles. — JH

Week 8: Against QB Riley Leonard and Duke, Payton produced his most effective pass-rushing effort of 2023. He did not log a sack but did register seven QB pressures and played a big role in Leonard's 7-of-16, 69-yard performance the Blue Devils' QB left the game with an injury. — JH 

Week 7: In Florida State's 41-3 dismantling of Syracuse, the edge rusher did not record a sack or QB pressure in 35 snaps. He did bat down two passes and record a tackle in statistically uneventful day. He was flagged for his third penalty of the season. — JH

Week 6: Payton recorded three quarterback pressures and four tackles in Florida State's 39-17 domination of Va Tech. He did miss two tackles, while in coverage, he was targeted twice, allowing one catch for two yards. — JH

Week 5: DNP - idle

Week 4: Florida State moved to 4-0 with a 31-24 overtime win against Clemson.  Payton recorded two sacks and assisted on another.  He also recorded his first sack of the season.  Payton also recorded a QB hurry, QB hit, and two pass breakups. — JH 

Week 3: FSU went to 3-0 on the season ekeing out a 31-29 win for ACC opponent, Boston College. Payton had two tackles in the game. He also was credited with two pressures the quarterback with 2 QB hurries. — JH 

Week 2: In Florida State's monster win over Southern Miss, 66-13, Payton twice got pressure on Golden Eagles QB Billy Wiles. Payton did not record a tackle in the game. — JH

Week 1: FSU won their first game against LSU 45-24. Patrick recorded 3 tackles 1 unassisted and 2 assisted. Patrick also had 3 QB hurries. — JH
