Played and started in five games before suffering a season-ending fracture-dislocation of his right ankle in the second quarter vs. South Carolina on Sept. 30 … Tallied 17 receptions for 217 yards and one touchdown on the year … Missed the final seven games of the year … Caught two passes for 21 yards, including a long of 17 in the first half vs. the Gamecocks (9/30) … Right ankle injury occurred when he was tackled following a 17-yard reception with 6:16 left in the second quarter … Pulled in three catches for 30 yards in win over UTSA (9/23) ... Had a game-high 94 receiving yards on five catches in SEC opener at Florida (9/16), including a 55-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter ... Emerged as a go-to wide receiver in his first season as a Vol, starting all 12 games he played in … Ranked second on the team in receiving behind Biletnikoff Award winner Jalin Hyatt with 52 catches for 667 yards and four touchdowns … Averaged 12.8 yards per catch … His 52 receptions ranked 12th in the SEC … Five of his receptions went for 30+ yards … Owned three 100-yard receiving games … With teammates Hyatt and Tillman out for the Orange Bowl, rose to the occasion to help lift the Vols past Clemson with four catches for 48 yards and a clutch 16-yard touchdown in the first quarter that set the tone … Did not play vs. Vanderbilt (11/26) due to injury … Tallied his third 100-yard receiving game of the season, posting 111 yards on a career-high nine receptions in the win over Missouri (11/12) ... 2020 – RS-FRESHMAN (USC)

Made an immediate impact as a redshirt freshman at USC, appearing in all six games with three starts during the COVID-19 shortened season … Starts came against Utah, Washington State and Oregon … Tallied 21 receptions for 236 yards (11.2 avg) with two touchdowns and recovered a fumbled onside kick (and caught another one) … Has five catches for 51 yards with a 26-yard TD on fourth down with 2:52 to play off a tipped ball and then he recovered the ensuing onside kick that led to USC’s game-winning drive against Arizona State (11/7) … Caught three passes for 25 yards at Arizona (11/14) … Delivered a game-high five receptions for 66 yards at Utah (11/21), an 8-yard reception against Washington State (12/6) and a 10-yard catch at UCLA (12/12) … Hauled in six catches for 76 yards with a short TD and recovered an onside kick against Oregon (12/18).

2019 – FRESHMAN (USC)

Redshirted as a true freshman in 2019 … Originally signed with USC in December 2018 and enrolled for the 2019 spring semester, but several weeks later transferred to Texas and participated in 2019 spring practice there … Transferred back to USC in the summer of 2019.

A five-star prospect ranked the No. 2 overall player in the state of California in the 247Sports Composite for the Class of 2019 … Considered the nation’s No. 12 overall prospect by Rivals.com … Named 2018 Maxwell Football Club Offensive National High School Player of the Year, Max Preps National Player of the Year, USA Today All-USA first team, PrepStar Dream Team, Max Preps All-American first team, Tacoma News Tribune Western 100, Cal-Hi Sports California Mr. Football, USA Today All-California first team, Cal-Hi Sports All-State first team, Orange County Register Fab 15, All-CIF Division 1 Offensive Player of the Year, Los Angeles Times All-Area Player of the Year and Orange County Register Offensive Player of the Year as a senior wide receiver and linebacker at Mater Dei High in Santa Ana, California … In 2018, had 78 receptions for 1,428 yards (18.3 avg) with 18 touchdowns to go along with a 13-yard TD run on offense and 13 tackles, including 6.5 for losses (with five sacks), two pass breakups and two forced fumbles on defense … Member of a 2018 Mater Dei team that was 13-2 and won the prep national championship … As a junior in 2017, made the MaxPreps Junior All-American second team, USA Today All-California second team, Cal-Hi Sports All-State Juniors first team, All-CIF Division 1 and Orange County Register All-Orange County third team as he had 46 receptions for 770 yards (16.7 avg) with 11 scores along with 23 tackles, two sacks and a deflection … Mater Dei went 15-0 in 2017, won the California CIF Division 1 title and the California State Open Division crown and was named the prep national champions … As a 2016 sophomore, made the Cal-Hi Sports All-State Sophomores first team as he caught 28 passes for 407 yards (14.5 avg) with five touchdowns … Also logged 13 tackles, including seven for losses with six sacks and a deflection.

Full name is Horace Lee McCoy III … Goes by Bru … Born on June 22, 2000 … His father, Horace McCoy II, was a tight end at Northern Illinois (1994) and his mother, Shelby, was a record-setting four-time (1991-94) All-Conference setter for Northern Illinois volleyball … Is helping to make sudden cardiac arrest prevention, awareness and treatment a priority this season as he co-created Huddle for Hearts … Through Huddle For Hearts, his work provides AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) to youth sports organizations – focusing primarily on underserved communities … Held a CPR training and demo seminar in the Knoxville community and also donated two AED machines to inner-city youth … Has an NIL deal in place this season where for every touchdown he catches, an AED will be donated to the community ... Majoring in communication studies …
